With a career spanning public health, advocacy, and affordable housing, Lakeysha Sowunmi is dedicated to building stronger, healthier, and more equitable communities.
As Senior Director of Resident Services at Community HousingWorks, she leads the execution and evolution of the organization’s three resident service pillars: Next Generation Success, Financial Well-Being, and Health and Wellness. Lakeysha centers sustainability, policy advocacy, and systems change to promote lasting outcomes and community resilience.
Widely recognized as a “super collaborator,” she brings together cross-sector partners to deliver transformative, community-based solutions, many of which have inspired peer organizations to replicate Community HousingWorks’ programs.
A U.S. Navy veteran and founding president of the San Diego Women’s Affordable Housing Network, Lakeysha champions equity, mentorship, and leadership diversity across the industry. Her background in public health and systems advocacy informs a holistic approach to resident engagement and community design.
She continues to advance collaboration at the intersection of housing, health, and empowerment, driving innovation and inclusion across every level of her work.
