Mrs. King joined Volunteers of America National Services in 2018. She is responsible for affordable housing development, acquisitions, and recapitalizations. Ms. King comes to VOANS with twenty years of leadership experience in the affordable housing industry. Her professional experience includes positions in the development, finance, consulting, and government sectors.

Prior to VOANS, Mrs. King served as the Chief Development Officer at the District of Columbia Housing Authority managing the agency’s redevelopment pipeline and development staff. She was responsible for negotiating deal terms and the development program for transactions with multiple funding sources including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, conventional debt, equity, gap financing, and grants. Mrs. King joined DCHA after serving for Mayor Vincent Gray as the Director of the District of Columbia’s New Communities Initiative, a billion-dollar program that establishes housing policy and provides gap financing for the redevelopment of distressed neighborhoods. Prior to joining the District of Columbia government, Mrs. King was the Director of the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) Mid-Atlantic office. CSH is a national CDFI whose mission is to help communities create affordable housing with supportive services through its lending and development consulting services. As Director of the Mid-Atlantic office, Mrs. King was responsible for operations, management, strategic planning, program design, lending activities, and new business development in the region. Prior to joining CSH, Mrs. King held the position of Senior Account Executive at Fannie Mae.

Mrs. King’s accomplishments in this role include expanding the number of affordable lending partners, amending selling and servicing guidelines to include pooling government-guaranteed mortgages, and facilitating the creation of the Rural Development Guaranteed Rural Rental Housing Program. She served as Fannie Mae’s liaison to Congressional staff, HUD, and USDA RHS.
