David Layman leads Hooker DeJong’s affordable housing and market rate multi-family practice. Working with clients throughout the United States, David brings unique insight into the Intersection of LIHTC + Architecture. His experience in the affordable housing market is diverse, including achieving successful outcomes in adaptive reuse, acquisition rehab renovation, and new construction. David is skilled in guiding clients through the 4% and 9% LIHTC allocation application process. He is dedicated to making HDJ an exceptional, national architectural firm that is dedicated to customer service and satisfaction. He leads by doing. His leadership has supported the growth and professional development of HDJ and its employees. As President and CEO, David provides broad oversight on all aspects of HDJ projects from concept through completion. His primary responsibility is to ensure that work meets the highest quality standards and that client expectations are fully satisfied. David is comfortable in the role of project “visioning” and in the creation of construction plans that follow. As a “hands-on” architect David takes an active role in projects and has developed a practice that is based on principal-level engagement at all phases of the work. His more 25 years of experience has included all phases of professional design services from the crucial first step stakeholder participation, through building design and construction administration. David is a registered architect with a B.S. and M.Arch from the College of Architecture & Urban Planning at the University of Michigan.
