Bob Simpson is the founder and CEO of the Multifamily Impact Council, a non-profit membership organization responsible for establishing the first common framework of impact investing principles and reporting metrics for the multifamily industry.  He also is the founder and CEO of Simpson Impact Strategies, a boutique housing finance and investment firm that helps clients develop their affordable housing and impact investment initiatives.

Previously Bob served as Vice President and Head of the Multifamily Green and Affordable Housing Business at Fannie Mae where he led the creation of Fannie Mae’s green and healthy housing initiatives and helped develop innovative new approaches to financing that enabled Fannie Mae to become the leading provider of affordable multifamily debt in the country and the largest issuer of green bonds in the world.

Over his 20-year career at Fannie Mae, Bob held a wide range of senior leadership positions across the multifamily organization in the Conventional, Structured Finance, Seniors, and Small Loan business lines, and led the establishment of the company’s Native American and underserved market investment initiatives.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Bob worked for six and a half years as a Special Assistant and Senior Legislative Aide to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.

Bob also serves as a coach for the Terner Center Housing Venture Lab at the University of California-Berkeley and is a senior advisor to a select number of early-stage housing technology firms, including Esusu, Pronto Housing, and Viva Benefits.
