Donnell McGhee
Vice President of Development
Holladay Ventures
Bio:
Donnell McGhee serves as Vice President of Development at Holladay Ventures, where he leads the firm’s affordable housing portfolio. A Chicago native who has worked in affordable housing since 2017, Donnell has seen firsthand how disinvestment and gentrification-driven displacement devastate communities — and he has built his career around combating that cycle, delivering housing across all income levels.
Donnell oversees the acquisition and development of multifamily housing spanning LIHTC, Tax-Exempt Bond, and Workforce Housing opportunities, structuring complex capital stacks and cultivating public-private partnerships with co-development partners, service providers, housing finance agencies, and housing authorities. Over his career, he has been involved in fifteen projects totaling 2,200 units and more than $500 million in development costs across Texas, the Midwest, and the Southeast.
Before joining Holladay Ventures, Donnell led strategic development efforts for large-scale master-planned communities anchoring regional revitalization. He began his career as a partner at Renewed Real Estate, acquiring undervalued single-family and small multifamily properties in emerging neighborhoods and delivering a 36% return on invested capital for investors.
Donnell holds an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. He lives in Houston, Texas, with his wife.
